Acer Conexant Audio Drivers For Windows 7

When Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 is available, Acer use Realtek Audio devices for their notebook products. Few years back, Conexant was one of the popular audio devices for Acer model which released During Windows XP era.Unlike Realtek, conexant does not provides specific driver updates on their support site. There is different method to install the audio in windows 7, here is an example for Acer aspire 1690 and Aspire 3600 conexant audio driver installation:

Before proceed with driver  installation, just try this drivers first:

1. Conexant_acer_win7 : Download
2. Since the signature is AC97, give a try with realtek AC97 drivers : Download Link

Install by right click and select run as admin.


Method 1 : Edit the inf file.

Method 2: Compatibility
1. Download your original Windows XP Drivers.
Conexant Version : 6.13.10.8335 : Download

2. Extract the driver file and select "properties" and select "compatibility". Tick "run this program in compatibility mode for" select Windows XP.  Apply and OK. (example with pictures here).

Acer Aspire 3050/3100 Drivers Windows 7

Acer only release Windows XP and Windows Vista Drivers for this model. If you want to upgrade into windows 7 here is the drivers you will need.

Touchpad Issue :
If your touchpad does not working properly, it might be cause by a bad battery. Try to remove the battery and run your Aspire 3050 with only power chord.

Gateway mt3422 Windows XP/7 Drivers and Details

I created this post on 2009, and today I was roaming on my old blog post to update outdated and broken links. I found out this post using mirror download link (long time ago it was up and running) and sadly it was  removed by the file hosting site. When I search on Gateway site the support or this model is not available, I fond the original download page from Acer panama but it is hard to access the content. This model is capable of running 32-bit operating system since it only support maximum 2GB of RAM (PC2-5300)

This chipset drivers will install the PCi and SMBUS controller, you need to install the first chipset drivers above first.

Chipset* Installation:
Extract the driver file and don't run setup to install. You will see 2 folder which is windows vista32 (32-bit) and winvista64(64-bit), open the folder and run the setup located in that folder to install. Why? because it is originally windows Vista drivers, so the main setup only compatible with windows vista. So, we need to run specific setup in winvista folder in order to install it for windows XP. The original file is D20008-001-001, but the driver i posted above is the same version as the original and it is released by gateway.

Windows 7 Upgrade and Drivers

If you want to upgrade into windows 7. First thing to do is run windows automatic updates so you will get the compatible drivers available from Microsoft. Then please remember if cerain drivers are working properly in windows 7, do not attempt to re-install the drivers. Example, if your sond and wireless are working properly, do not install the drivers I listed below.

How To Check Your Drivers Version

You can easily identify what driver version you have by looking at the specific driver properties. You can access the driver properties via Device Manager which available on all Windows Operating System.

For this example I will show how to check the graphic driver version:

1. First you need to open device manager

2. Next right click on any devices you want, then select properties.

3. After that click on the Driver Tab and you will see the Driver Version will show what driver version currently installed for your graphic.

You can also identify the driver provider and driver dates. Digital Signer will show wither your driver is digitally signed or not.

Chipset Driver Version:
Certain devices not directly named as it should be such chipset is nowhere listed on the device manager. The chipset is categorize under system device, here is example Intel chipset 6 series:

This method will install Texas Instruments PCI-8x12/7x12/6x12 in Windows XP, Vista and 7. Normally Acer provide this drivers for Windows XP and Vista, it is hard t find windows 7 drivers version so for windows 7 you need to install it manually. For windows Xp and Vista just extract and run setup to install.

Installation for Windows 7 :

1. Open device manager by go to start and type "DEVMGMT.MSC" and press enter.
2. You will see 2 devices will yellow exclamation mark, which is Mass Storage Controller and PCi to CARDBUS Bridge.
3. Right click on Mass Storage Controller and select update driver.

4. Select Browse my computer for driver software.

5. Click Browse and point to the driver folder we extracted earlier.

6. navigate to "CardR_TI_v2_0_0_7\CardR_TI_v2_0_0_7\Windows\tiinst" and select the Vista32 for windows 7 32-bit and Vista64 for Windows 7 64-bit.

 7. Click Next and proceed with the installation process.

Now to install the PCi to CARDBUS Bridge just simply open the driver folder and run setup to install.

Non Tech Savvy user might find it is hard to choose the correct drivers from the very huge drivers lists.
Here is the easy way to get the proper Intel audio/sound driver for any operating system such as Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1:

1. Go to : http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu
2. Click "Check your drivers for system updates".
3. It will ask to install active x, install it.
4. Then it will scan your system and will display available download.
5. The result will not only show audio drivers but also list out any available drivers updates for your system .
6. Download and then install the recommend updates.

If the result shows that your system need to install IDT audio drivers, you need to install KB888111 first which available on Microsoft Website. However this installation only for Windows XP.
I strongly recommend to perform windows automatic update first. Base on my experience, chipset drivers is the most important drivers before installing other drivers.
If you have an Intel graphics, you only need to install the graphic drivers because it will automatically install Intel HDMI drivers.
